Need help with adding maps.

i tried waat a tutorial had said and added the map to the saves folder in .minecraft but the game itself never changed and idk how to get t to do that other than redownloading the game but i got the game from a friend and i can't remember the log in or password.

it was a .zip file i figured out that i had to take the file out of the .zip first.

for the most part yes i got a map with pet that don't do anything like the wolves and cats won't stand up or anything other than take food into love mode but won't mate someone said it's cause they are tamed to te map creator and idk if i could change that or if i just had to live with it.

You'll probably have to live with it unless you want to dive into extremely complicated config files and such.
