PS Vita and PS4 multiplayer?

Hi,

I am really new to the minecraft universe and I like to play minecraft with my stepson.

I already have a PS4 and I gifted my stepson Minecraft yesterbay for his birthday.

I want to play multiplayer with my stepson. Therefore, I am thinking of buying a PS Vita, so my stepson can play on the PS4 and I can play on the PS Vita.

Is this crossplay possible?

I searched google a lot, but all the information I got where too old and speculative. Does anyone have practicacle experience with that and can give me a straight answer?

Even though I am not 100% sure, I would presume no. Reason being is cross-platform play like this is really hard to pull off, sometimes impossible.

However, I am an Xbox guy, and am not familiar with how the PS4 / PS Vita work. I may be completely wrong here as well.

Cross-play between any two different platforms is not currently available (eg; you can't cross-play with an Xbox and a Playstation)

The reason behind this is quite simple: No two platforms use the same resources, data, or content.
